It is a notable theory that the fruit Eve plucked in the garden of Eden which became all the fuss was actually a pomegranate as no apples grew in her hood (modern day Iraq). Anaar is Anaar in Farsi, Urdu and Hindi. The name "pomegranate" only caught on after it reached France. Since the pomegranate had been around the Indian subcontinent for a while there is a unique name for it in Sanskrit known as Dadim, now I know where the marathi word Dalimb (with the retroflex lateral approximant "ll") comes from!
