Collection: Botanical Belonging

The notion of belonging is so utterly connected with our identities and what it means to be human I am left wondering what it must be like for plants.

Much like their human cousins plant species have also migrated to distant lands and not only survived but thrived against all odds be it by force or by choice, all this without any limbs or brains! They make adaptation seem so easy- no home sickness, no dissonance, no faux pas, just in it to survive together. As someone who "belongs" to multiple geographies these botanical beings remind me to be generous and bring my best to the table each day. This is a series of artworks where my realms of research and art collide; a playful approach at discovering the etymological and literal roots of some botanical beings along with narrating fascinating origin theories from long agos. Hope you enjoy this one.
